Needle A, heel side
Needle B, toe side
Step 10, the vessels join
dot = read straight off a reference frame
Suture
It is one strand. A double-armed suture carries a needle on each end, so
A and B are the two ends of the same length of Prolene. They start together at the heel,
run opposite ways round, and are tied to each other where they meet.
Direction is unconfirmed. None of the six reference frames show which way
the needle passes, and it is the thing trainees get wrong. Needs the surgeon's call.

The mapping is one rule: the graft is flipped 180° about the heel-toe
axis, so graft = (18 − artery) mod 12. Heel and toe hold still,
the two long sides swap. Every observed frame fits it.
